The South African Police Service (SAPS) is set to recruit 5,500 new police officers before the end of June 2025. Training for the new recruits will commence between January and February 2026. Notably, SAPS will introduce an online electronic recruitment system, allowing aspiring applicants to apply online for the first time in the organization’s history.

Quote from National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola:

“I am pleased to announce that before the end of June 2025, we will be advertising the recruitment of 5,500 police trainees to join our ranks. Their training will commence between January and February 2026. For the first time in the history of our organisation, we are also introducing the ONLINE ELECTRONIC recruitment system which will allow aspiring applicants to apply online to join our ranks.”
